Teen Costume Ideas

Are you looking for some dark teen costume ideas to scare the living daylights out of your friends and family? The more thought you put into your costume ahead of time, the better it will likely turn out.

• Skeletion

Now here's a Teen classic. Both younger and older teens like the skeleton costume because it's scary and fun. A typical skeleton costume includes a completely black jumpsuit with painted skeleton bones on it.

If you want to make a more realistic costume you can find fake bones and attach them to the costume. However, for something less traditional you can wear a black suit with a wicked looking tie or bowtie. Complete the outfit with a skeleton mask or makeup.

• Zombie

Zombies are getting quite popular among teens these days especially from Movies and TV shows. More and more young people want to transformed into a flesh eating zombie when Halloween comes. Zombie costumes are easy to make and you can find a large selection of zombie costumes in the stores. The only thing that you will have to decide is whether you will act as a slow or fast zombie.

• BeetleJuice

The Beetlejuice cosutme is a fun cosutme for any teen Halloween party. Using white face paint, completely cover your face to create the effect that you are a ghoul from the undead. Finish by creating large dark circles around your eyes, either with more face paint or black eyeshadow.

A striped suit with a hypnotic design like the one he wears in the movie might be hard to come by, so you may just have to get one from a party store. If you're stubborn and want to make one on your own, you could always get striped fabric from a craft store and put on together.

Beetlejuice wears large black boots and dons a sickening; devious smile that lets you know he is up to no good. The character is known for his odd behavior, so get creative with the construction of the costume. As long as it generally looks like the character (green hair, striped suit,) you'll be good to go.

• Grim Reaper

This is a Grim Reaper that is draped in the classic cloak and hovers around with the stereotypical scythe. The key to this style of reaper is his lack of obvious identity; this is what really creeps people out.

He appears to have no face, doesn't speak, and is hardly expressive with his body movements, instead gliding around the world of the living, looking for his next victim. For this costume, you can find a jet-black robe that will cover your whole body and feet.

You can find these kinds of costumes at party stores, but the material is often kind of cheap, so you may want to hit up a thrift store and see if they have anything gloomy and black that you can make into your reaper robes. Heck, even your old graduation outfit might work if the color is dark enough. Add a scythe (that is fake or unsharpened) and you're ready to stalk the mortals.

• Dark Witch

The dark witch costume is a favorite among teens. It allows them to appear evil, magical and attractive all at the same time. The main thing to remember about this costume is that all clothing and accessories should be black.

To get things going start with the hat. Dark witches are known for their long cone-shaped pointy black hats with a full brim. The very top of the hat needs to sag down a bit too. You can probably find one of these hats in a novelty store.

For clothing, the main pieces you will need are a long skirt, long-sleeve button shirt, cape, and scarf. Again, all these pieces need to be colored black. The shoes will also be black, but make sure they are high heel shoes because even witches have some style to them. At this point, you have the basic dark witch costume set up.
