Do you want to be on the right side of the law? Do you like cop shows like Law and Order? Then maybe should be a police officer/sheriff this Halloween. You can get these outfits rather inexpensively at a party store. For men, throw in a fake set of handcuffs, a fake gun, and a police cap and your good to go.
For women you have a couple of options; conservative or sexy. For a conservative look wear tritonal officer attire, you can get at any Halloween store. For a sexy look, wear a loose-fitting blouse, black leather short-shorts, leggings and classic black pumps and your good to go. Be sure to wear a cap that says, "POLICE" on it to complete the look. Finally, muster up an over-inflated sense of authority and you're done.

• Modern Judge
For a regular modern-day judge, wear a long black robe with a suit underneath. Grab a gavel as your only weapon if you can find one. If you want to get really elaborate, you can make a judge's bench out of cardboard and carry it around in front of you.
For a cute group costume, you can have one of your friends dress up at the bailiff, another as the plaintiff, and another as the defendant. Construct a complicated story about the case if you want some kind of narrative to tell people about.
• Celebrity Judge
These days, the best-known judges are the arbitrators that we see on daytime TV in those courtroom shows such as Judge Judy. If you want to be a celebrity judge, you're going to need little more than the long black robe and a gavel in your hand. To specifically embody the character of Judge Judy, you'll need to add a short brown wig, a white frill along the collar of your robe, and an unflappable attitude.
• Victorian Judge
Folks were a lot fancier back in the Victorian era, and this means that you should wear a powdered wig. It's up to you whether you want to literally dust it with powder or not, but at the very least it should be long, curly, and white.
Victorian judge outfits could be more than one color and were a bit more complex than those of modern judges sometimes, but they could also be plain black in many instances, so that's your safest bet.
